After (finally) waking up this morning (who knew you could hit REM sleep every 10 minutes for an hour and a half?) I read through my email which included a witty blog post from friend and fellow author, S.J. Madill. I decided that I should probably make the effort to write SOMETHING, because it’s been so long.
First off, yes, I am back to writing on a (somewhat) regular basis. I have this new writing software that I’ve been trying out where I can tell it how long I think my story will be and when I want to be done and it will calculate how many words I need to do a day to reach that goal. I told it I wanted to have a first draft done by August 31. After it stopped crashing (I think it was laughing at me), it told me how many words I needed to do per day to get that done.
Sometimes I fail spectacularly (I have come in at a negative word counts), other days I exceed it and it recalculates accordingly. So far, it still seems doable, though a first draft means a couple of months of editing and re-writing so I’m shooting for a release in November of this year. I’m not going to talk about it too much because I always jinx myself when I do, but after I hit the ¾ mark, I might have a little more to say. 🙂
So happy to hear this – I love your writing!
